LeSkelle Lodge Imso Hot

I am pleased to announce the purchase of Shakhaan's oldest progeny, "Chilli". This chip off the ole block was always fated to live with us, and was a suprise birthday present for Megan. Now he is officially "ours", he will come home to Khanahmar Lodge shortly, to begin his show career. Biggest thanks to Leanne and Chris for allowing Chilli to stay in the family!

2009 Bibs n Booties Youngstock Show

This show saw the second outing for Magic Maker Farida. The decision to attend this show came about
as Farida missed attending the All Arabian due to injury.
I would like to thank Dilutes Australia (WA Branch) for running this show, just for the "babies".

A long day of lovely weather, a late morning start with very late afternoon finish, saw us not get home until well after 6pm!
However, the hour and a half trek to Muchea for this show was well worth it, with Farida winning her filly class,
being sashed Champion Yearling Purebred, and then SUPREME Arabian, receiving a lovely sash and garland!
She also picked up the blue in Classic Head.

I am thrilled with this filly, her temperament is just superb. She has been a joy to prepare and show,
with no body clipping, dyeing, or rugging required (only 1 cotton) for this show.
Just a well balanced diet and a fair amount of elbow grease!

2008...... and into 2009

While plenty has happened this year already, the boys have settled into our new home with ease. Gerome returned from a visit down south in September, a huge thanks must go to Helen and Brenton of Magic Maker Arabians, for looking after "G".

2008 Foals

I'm pleased to announce that Shakhaan's first foal for the season was born just before 4am this morning, the 5th November. A repeat mating with Solitaires Shiraz after the loss of the first attempt of this cross (RIP Red Bull) has resulted in a full brother! A stunning chestnut and white pinto colt, this fiesty little chap was trying to get up before he was even out! Similar in markings to his brother, the curly ears and that head and front is proving to be a strong trait in Shakhaan's progeny. Biggest congratulations to Shiraz's owner, Jemma and family.

Shakhaan's second and final foal for the year was born on Monday 10th November, a bit after midnight. This eagerly anticipated anglo has exceeded all expectations, and to boot is Shakhaan's first daughter! Huge congratulations to owner Sarina Lauren and family, on the new arrival "Nova".

News of Gerome's first foal of the year has just been received, at 5am this morning, 11th November, a black colt with a white star and 1 white hind sock, was born in Henley Brook. After the sad loss of Kahlua's filly last season, owner Rose finally has her Gerome baby, albeit 3 weeks overdue! How fitting that he was born on Rememberance Day, the biggest of hugs to Rose on getting what she ordered, I am thrilled with the quality of this cross, such an upstanding colt with a fantastic front and huge bone!... meet "Tom".

2007

It is with great sadness that the news of Gerome's first born for this season, was of a negative nature. The lovely Warmblood mare "Kahlua" had a difficult birth and subsequently lost her foal, a beautiful black filly. Kahlua suffered extensive internal damage from the mispresented foal, thankfully she will be fine, but does have some surgery to undergo in the immediate future. Kahlua's dam, a stunning "Ron Bon" stud book Thoroughbred mare, has been served by Gerome, as the owner is not able to use her free return service with Kahlua this season. We all wish Rose the best of luck for a happier outcome this year.

Some happier news, with the arrival of Gerome's second foal for the year... another filly! Owner and mare made the trek to Victoria a few months ago. Big congratulations to Sash and her mare "Tilly", introducing "Belle"...

Second foal for Shakhaan

I am extremely thrilled to announce the arrival of Shakhaan's second foal !

Born at 8.15pm on Monday 12th November, a solid chestnut colt, to Springfield Park Evitah. "Chilli" is a strong fiesty little chap, who this morning is already starting to give his mum a hard time! Spunky and full of his dad's attitude, this one will sparkle in the show ring! Eligible for Arabian Pony registration, he is 93.5% arab. When the phone call came, I was there in a flash, and was able to witness his birth... an amazing event.

Big congratulations to owners Leanne Knight and Chris Skellorn, of Le' Skelle Lodge Arabians.

2007 WA Arabian State Championships

Well, the "States" has come and gone again for another year. Luckily here in the West, the outbreak of Equine Influenza hasn't reached our shores, allowing the majority of our shows to continue, unfortunately not the case for most other states in Australia.

While the Show Team was small this year, there was no lack of quality... 3 horses in 3 halter classes, for 3 State Champions!

The weekend began with the Derivatives, and a semi catch lead of the lovely Anglo mare, Krystelle Park Pure Obsession. With only 2 in hand lessons, "Sash" worked like a more mature horse, and gained the admiration of the International judge, Caroline Sussex (GBR). In a combined class of 9 mares and geldings, she was sashed State Champion Anglo Mare or Gelding 4 & Over. Huge congratulations to owner, Kellie Anderson.

Almost immediately following, was the stunning Arabian Warmblood mare, Glencora Afaire. Again, a combined class of 7 quality mares and geldings, saw "Jess" stand head and shoulders above all others (not hard as she was one of the tallest in the class!), and was sashed State Champion Arabian Warmblood Mare or Gelding 4 & Over. I then partnered her in the afternoon for her ridden class, her owner and myself pleased with how she worked, considering she has begun training Medium level dressage at home!

Sunday was Purebred day. I decided to leave "Bella" at home, and only take Shakhaan. With just the one horse, made for a more relaxing and fun day! Expectations were high, and I was not disappointed. In a strong Intermediate Stallion class, Shakhaan was foot perfect.... a beautiful balanced extended trot on entry to the ring was appreciated by the judge, we were called in off the ring, in first, and never dropped down the line up. Shakhaan strutted his stuff again in his workout after a lovely stand up, and posed in the lineup for the entire class, occasionally letting his presence be known! After such an emotional week, with the loss of his first foal, waiting for the announcement was nerve wracking to say the least... and when it came I slumped against Shakhaan's shoulder, hugged him and burst into tears. Now a multi State Champion, PP Shakhaan is on his way to fulfilling my dream, and his destiny. This win was dedicated to you, "Red Bull", R.I.P.

First foal for Shakhaan....

Wednesday 7th November 2007 at 12.30am saw the entrance to the world of Shakhaan's first born.... a chestnut and white pinto colt, out of Solitares Shiraz. Due to unfortunate circumstances, he died at approximately 5 hours old. It was a devastating blow for both the mare owner and myself, an event that is hard to come to terms with. The only upside, is that we now know of the quality of this cross, and are repeating the mating this year, with an order of "the same again, please!".

"Red Bull", with his carbon copy head of Dad, is gone, but will never be forgotten. R.I.P little man, we will meet again soon.
